A Dhaka court has placed additional superintendant of police (ASP) Md Jewel Rana of Diplomatic Security Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on a four-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of one Liza Akter during the anti-discrimination student movement, reports BSS.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Bebum Afnan Somi passed the order on Friday as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place him on seven-day remand.
Police, after taking permission from the Ministry of Home Affair, took Jewel Rana into custody on October 17 and showed him arrested in the case. Liza, who used to work as a house maid at Ramna, was shot by police on July 18 as they opened fire on the agitating students and people in the area.
