The leaders of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum (BJAF), a platform for pro-BNP lawyers, stated that the attack on the official residence of the Chief Justice (CJ) was a staged "drama" intended to deny justice to BNP leaders and activists.
They made this claim during a press conference held at the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) building on Monday.
Barrister Kayser Kamal, Secretary General of the BJAF, read a written statement in the press conference.
BJAF President Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali, Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal, Advocate Syed Mamun Mahbub, Advocate Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal, Barrister AKM Ehsanur Rahman, among others, were present at the conference.
In the written statement, Kamal said, "To prove that a popular political party BNP is a 'terrorist organization', the leaders and activists of all levels of BNP and its affiliated organizations have been accused of committing violent and murderous crimes. Many leaders and activists have been listed as unnamed suspects, allowing for the arrest of anyone in these cases at any time."
The alleged attack on the official residence of the CJ is also a part of this 'drama', so that the BNP activists do not get any justice from the judiciary.
We strongly condemn and protest against it. If not, why will our five senior lawyers be made accused in the case of attack at the residence of the Chief Justice?"
The lawyer said, "The joint attack on BNP's mass rally by the Police and Awami League on October 28 was a pre-planned incident.
Filing false and fabricated cases one after another based on the said incidents, arresting BNP Secretary General and other leaders, taking them on remand, keeping the BNP office under lock are parts of the blueprint to make the popular party BNP leaderless.
They have attempted to divert BNP from the ongoing 'one-point' movement against the current illegitimate government. However, we believe that this fight for democracy will persist.
