NARSINGDI, July 22 (UNB): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamunon has said the attack on Narsingdi District Jail was carried out in a pre-planned manner.
"A group attacked the jail to deteriorate the law and order situation," he said.
The IGP was talking to journalists in front of Narsingdi District Jail gate on Monday.
"The way the attackers carried out the vandalism… we never experienced this kind of incident," he said.
However, none of those involved in the attack will be spared, the IGP added.
So far, police have arrested 64 people in connection with the incident and recovered 21 arms.
The IGP also announced Tk 50,000 reward if anyone assists police to arrest the escaped inmates with arms.
"The identities of those who will assist the police will not be disclosed," he added.
