Detectives claimed the arrestees identified as Al-Amin (25) and Titu (28), to be operatives of banned Islamist militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhaluka Model thana, said a joint team of DB of Dhaka and Mymensingh conducted the drive at Majorbhita area and arrested Al-Amin and Titu.

After primary interrogation, the detectives' team along with the duo conducted a raid in the area and recovered four rounds of bullet, some bomb making materials and a motorbike from their possession at about 4:00 am Friday.

When contacted, Majedur Rahman, OC of Mymensingh DB police, said police arrested the two on suspicion of their involvement in snatching three JMB leaders from a prison van in Trishal.

Abdus Salam, sub-inspector (SI) of Mymensingh DB police, filed a case with Bhaluka Model thana against them.

Miscreants snatched the three convicted JMB leaders-Rakib Hasan Russel, Boma Mizan and Salahuddin-from a prison van, which was carrying them from Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur, killing a policeman at Signboard in Trishal on February 23.
