Auto-promotion to make students' future uncertain: GM Quader

Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has feared that auto-promotion in the education system can make the future of students uncertain, reports UNB.

"Arrangements should be made for taking exams of students in the conventional education system. Educational institutions should also be reopened considering the future of students," he said.

The Jatiya Party chairman came up with the remarks while exchanging views with leaders of Bangladesh Shikkhok Samity at his Banani office in the city on Tuesday.

GM Quader said the government should reopen educational institutions with a provision that action cannot be taken against the students who do not want to go to their educational institutions during the coronavirus period.

"Again, those who don't want to take the test in the traditional way, there can be an auto-pass system for them. But those students who want to go to the institutions and take part in the examinations in the conventional way, the education system must be activated for them," he observed.

Speaking at the programme, party Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu urged the government to ensure the rights of teachers in the interest of building the nation.

He said teachers of the privately run institutions are living a subhuman life during the coronavirus as they are not getting their salaries regularly.

Stating that the inequality between the rich and the poor has increased at an unusual rate in Bangladesh, Bablu called upon the government to take effective steps to check it.

"I also urged the government to accept all the justified demands of the teachers," he added.
