Awami League submits polls expenditure return to EC

The ruling Awami League (AL) Thursday submitted its polls expenditure return of over Tk 25.39 million to the Election Commission (EC), reports BSS.
A three-member team of AL led by its Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap submitted the party's polls expenditure return to acting secretary of the EC Md Sirajul Islam.
Convener of the AL financial management committee and treasurer Abdul Huq and member of the party's election steering committee Advocate Reazul Kabir Kawser were present on the occasion.
After submission of the AL's polls expenditure return, Dr Golap told the journalists that the party's election expenditure return amounting to Tk 25.39 million in the 10th Jatiya Sangsad polls has been submitted to the EC.
He said that AL spent the total amount of money for publicity, publication, electioneering, public rallies of party president, campaign rallies, processions, advertisement and other related purposes in the 10th parliament polls.
Advocate Kawser informed that the 35-page polls expenditure return of AL signed by General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam had been submitted to the EC.
In reply to a question, acting secretary of EC Md Sirajul Islam said: "In accordance with the Representation of the People Order (RPO) of 1972, it is mandatory for every of the political parties to submit polls expenditure returns with the EC.
