RANGPUR, Mar 07 (BSS): ATM Azharul Islam, Member of Parliament from Rangpur-2 (Badarganj-Taraganj) constituency, on Saturday called for building an effective social movement against drugs to protect the youth.
"Drugs are destroying our children. We must be aware of this for the bright future of our new generation and the nation," he said.
Azharul Islam, also Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, made the remarks while addressing an iftar mahfil organised by the Badarganj upazila unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the Government College Auditorium in Badarganj upazila on Friday afternoon as the chief guest.
He said, "Almighty Allah has given us the holy month of Ramadan to train ourselves in piety and patience through fasting and introduced a zakat-based economy so that the joy of Eid can be shared with everyone, including the poor."
Urging people to follow the lessons of Ramadan, he said society must refrain from injustice and work together to establish peace.
