Samajtantrik Mahila Forum (SMF) and Samajtantrik Chhatra Front (SCF) demanded on Friday of the government to ban political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, that were involved in war crimes during the Liberation War in 1971, reports UNB.
They came up with the demand at a human chain in front of the National Press Club, marking the 21st death anniversary of Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam.
Speaking at the programme, SMF president Rowshon Ara Russho said Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam had established people's court demanding trial of the war criminals.
The sentenced war criminals should be executed as soon as possible to fulfil the desire of the mass people, she added.
Earlier, the two organisations paid homage to Jahanara Imam at Mirpur Shahid Buddhijibi Graveyard.
Samajtantrik Mahila Forum general secretary Shampa Basu, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front's Nasir Uddin Ahmed Prince and Maitry Barman were also present at the programme.
