Speakers at a discussion in the city said Saturday Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had infused the spirit of nationalism among the people of the country to make them prepared for the war of liberation in 1971, reports BSS.
"Bangabandhu developed the nationalism among the people so that Bangalees laid down their lives during the War of Liberation to achieve independence," said Dr SA Malek, Bangabandhu Parishad General Secretary.
He said this while addressing a discussion marking the Victory Day at Jatiya Press Club.
Criticising the speech of Tarique Rahman, the eldest son of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, about Bangabandhu, SA Malek said Tarique's 'derogatory' speech hurt the Bangalees.
