Bangladesh is keen to develop multidimensional ties with China through increasing business activities side by side building road and rail network, and deep sea port of the country, said ministers at a programme in city Sunday.
They were speaking at a ceremony organised by Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal (ML) at a city hotel marking the 61st founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China and the 35th anniversary of Bangladesh-China diplomatic relation.
LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam MP, also general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, was present in the programme as the chief guest while Industries Minister Dilip Barua and Chinese Ambassador in Bangladesh Zhang Xianyi were the special guests.
Ashraful Islam said: "The bilateral relation of the two countries will grow further during the tenure of the present government as the country wants to be a partner of the economic development of China".
Industries Minister Dilip Barua said: "Bangladesh wants to reinforce her relation with China".
He expressed the hope that the relationship would be based on a "closer comprehensive partnership of cooperation".
"The trade of Bangladesh with China will be worth around US $ 5.0 billion at the end of the year," the minister anticipated.
"In our infrastructure development, China's contribution is remarkable, he mentioned and added the sixth Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge and the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka are testimonies to our ever growing friendship," said Dilip Barua.
Barua urged the Chinese entrepreneurs to come forward to set up knowledge-based hi-tech industries in the country.
MPs, high officials of different embassies and political leaders, among others, were present in the programme.
