The background check requirement is no longer needed for Bangladeshi visa seekers to Indonesia as the country has recently excluded Bangladesh from the requirement criteria, Indonesian outgoing Ambassador in Dhaka Jet Mirzal Jainuddin said on Monday.
The outgoing Ambassador of Indonesia called on the Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni in her office Monday, said a press release of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Indonesian Ambassador Jet Mirzal Jainuddin informed the Foreign Minister that earlier Bangladeshi nationals had to go through a background check by the Indonesia Immigration and obtain prior approval before issuance of visa from the Embassy in Dhaka.
Considering the excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Indonesia and the good track record of Bangladeshi nationals abroad, Indonesia has decided to exclude Bangladesh from the list of countries requiring background check and prior approval before getting visa, the release added, quoting Ambassador Jainuddin.
The outgoing Ambassador also informed Dipu Moni that Indonesia had decided to offer scholarship to Bangladesh students for diploma, undergraduate and master's programmes.
Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni expressed her satisfaction over the present state of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Indonesia and stressed on further promotion of trade between the two countries. She also requested the Indonesia Ambassador to encourage Indonesian businessmen to import more products from Bangladesh, the release said further.
