Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said Bangladesh's victory against England at the World Cup has helped Khaleda Zia to open up a bit, reports bdnews24.com.
The BNP 'relaxed' its shutdown on Tuesday after Bangladesh reached the quarter-finals for the first time on Monday.
"Khaleda Zia has opened up a little after our boys brought us victory," Maya told reporters before taking out a celebration rally from the Awami League's office on Bangabandhu Avenue.
"Khaleda Zia has cancelled her 12-hour strike. But she did not withdraw the blockade because she doesn't want people to celebrate with ease," he added.
Maya, general secretary of the Awami League's Dhaka unit, said Bangladesh seems to be winning in cricket, football and even reaching mountain summits with Sheikh Hasina in power.
"The country gets destroyed when Khaleda comes to power; the people have left her behind," he mentioned.
