The High Court (HC) has granted bail to former Habiganj-4 MP Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman in an attempted murder case filed with Chunarughat Police, report agencies.
A HC bench of Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice Md Zakir Hossain finalised an earlier issued rule and cleared him for release on Wednesday.
Lawyer M Liton Ahmed argued for the defence, while Deputy Attorney General Md Isa represented the state.
After the hearing, Liton said the HC granted Suman bail in the attempted murder case filed on July 16, 2024, adding that it took 21 months for him to walk free in this case.
Updating on the status of the other cases against the former MP, the lawyer said Suman faces a total of seven cases.
Of these, only the first attempted murder case filed with Mirpur Police has been fully finalised, including at the Appellate Division.
