Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) held a rally on the Dhaka University campus on Thursday on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's homecoming day.

BCL DU unit president Mazharul Kabir Shayon, general secretary Tanbir Hasan Shaikat, Dhaka City South BCL president Rajibul Islam Bappi and general secretary Sajal Kundu and Dhaka City North BCL general secretary Sagor Ahmed Shamim, among others, took part in the rally.

Thousands of BCL activists and leaders from different colleges and universities participated in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, DU BCL general secretary Tanbir Hasan Saikat said that long after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Hasina returned to Bangladesh, ignoring all the bloodsheds.

She returned on May 17 in 1981 to see relatives and people of her own country. At present, she is working relentlessly for the country's development. If the prime minister stays in power for 10 more years, the country will be much better, he adds.

Addressing the event, DU BCL President Mazharul Kabir Shayon said, "Our misfortune is that we lost Bangabandhu on August 15, 1975."
