BCL-ICS clash injures 20

SATKHIRA, May 16 (UNB): At least 20 people were injured in a clash between Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) at a dormitory of Satkhira Government College Thursday night.
Campus sources said the clash broke out between the two groups at around 10:30 pm after Shibir leader Mafizul Islam, also canteen manager of Zia Hall, locked into altercation with BCL leader Abu Sayed over his job.
At one stage, the Shibir leaders and activists confined BCL activists Rashedul Islam, Abu Sayed, Abu Bakar Siddique, Biplob, Anuresh Das and Zakir inside the hall and beat them up.
On information, police rescued the confined BCL leaders and activists and also charged batons on the unruly students to bring the situation under control.
Some 20 people were injured during the incident.
Later, police arrested Zia Hall Shibir unit president Masum Billah who led the Shibir activists in the clash.
