BCL leader held with firearms in Sylhet

SYLHET, Aug 04 (UNB): The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-9) arrested a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader from a housing estate area in Sylhet.

The arrestee was Saidul Haque Sayed, Sunamganj District BCL deputy secretary for entertainment and son of Shafiq Ullah of Kashipur village in Sunamganj's Chhatak upazila.

Major Mahfuzur Rahman, media officer of RAB-9, said on Tuesday that a RAB team arrested Sayed in front of the mosque adjacent to the office of councillor Rezaul Hasan Koyes Lodhi in the city's housing estate area around 11 pm on Monday.

RAB recovered a foreign pistol, 8 rounds of pistol ammunition, 5 rounds of shotgun cartridge, 2 local sharp weapon and 01 big knife from him.
