BCL leader Nishi sent to jail in student assault case

A Dhaka court on Thursday sent to jail Benazir Hossain Nishi, joint general secretary of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in a case lodged for assaulting students of Dhaka University (DU) during anti-discrimination student movement, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saifuzzaman passed the order as police produced Nishi before the court after end of her two-day remand and pleaded to keep her behind the bars.

Earlier on January 14, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak placed Nishi on a two-day remand in the case.
