Authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have suspended the studentship of a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader for assaulting a teacher on the campus Thursday, reports UNB.
The suspended is Mamun Khan, publicity secretary of JU unit BCL and a Master's student of the JU Urban and Regional Planning Department.
Sources at the university said the decision came from a disciplinary board meeting held Thursday night at the Registrar Building with acting Vice-chancellor Prof MA Matin in the chair.
JU Proctor Prof Mozibur Rahman said a case would also be filed against Mamun.
On Thursday afternoon, Mamun assaulted his department's Chairman Associate Prof Golam Moinuddin Chisti on the campus.
During the attack, he also threatened to shoot to death two other teachers-Golam Kibria, Professor of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), and Sazedur Rahman, Assistance Professor of the Government and Politics Department-as they came in the rescue of Prof Moinuddin.
Contacted, BCL JU unit general secretary Rajib Ahmed Rasel said action would be taken against Mamun in its organisational meeting.
