Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists of Dhaka University unit engaged in a skirmish with shop employees at Nilkhet in the city on Friday, reports UNB.

Witnesses said Sir AF Rahman Hall unit BCL vice-president Omar Faruque cashed out Tk 500 from his 'bKash' account from 'Prema Computer and City Plus' in Gawsul Azam Supermarket around 3:20pm.

An altercation ensued between Faruque and shop owner Arifur Rahman as the BCL leader refused to pay Tk 10 as commission for the cash-out.

At one stage, Arif and his employees beat Faruqe with sticks, leaving him injured.

Later, Faruque called in BCL activists from the university dormitory who attacked Arif and beat up him with sticks, leaving him injured.

They also vandalised the shop.

On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control. They also detained shop owner Arifur Rahman.
