Leaders and activists of the Jahangirnagar University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) brought out a procession and held a rally on the campus on Thursday protesting the nationwide blockade enforced by the BNP.

Speakers at the rally warned that BNP and Jamaat will get a befitting reply on the streets if they attempt to disrupt the educational environment on the campus in the name of a blockade.

The procession started from the university's main gate at 3pm and terminated with a short rally in Chowrongee area.

At the rally, Habibur Rahman Liton, general secretary of the BCL unit, stated, "Today, Chhatra League leaders and activists have taken control of the streets at Jahangirnagar University. We remain vigilant on the streets to stop all malicious attempts by BNP-Jamaat."

"The people of the country are not supporting them today due to the violence perpetrated by BNP in the name of a blockade," he added.

The unit president, Aktaruzzaman Sohel, remarked, "BNP-Jamaat's frequent strikes have caused public hardship, leading to a loss of support of the general people. They want to come to power by resisting the elections."|

"The students are not with them in the blockade programme and their agenda will not be implemented in the university," he said.
