BD-China ties to deepen if BNP returns to power: Fakhrul

Stating that their party considers China's assistance for Bangladesh's socio-economic development with very importance, BNP spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said Tuesday that bilateral ties between the two nations will deepen further if their party returns to power, reports UNB.

"We can proudly say the Bangladesh-China historical friendly ties are very much consolidated. These will never get dented. Bangladesh's relations with China will be strengthened further when BNP will return to power," he told a seminar.

Bangladesh-China Friendship Association arranged the seminar at the Jatiya Press Club marking the 65th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China and 39 years of Bangladesh-China diplomatic relations.

Fakhrul, the party acting secretary general, said BNP founder Ziaur Rahman established South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) for the development of the region."Now China is also its observer. BNP will work for intensifying regional cooperation if it comes to power."

Charge d' Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka Qu Guangzhou hailed the China-Bangladesh relations and pledged to continue efforts to further promote bilateral ties and friendship between the two friendly nations in the days to come.
