BD-India ties to be further cemented thru LBA

Sitaram Yechury, a member of Indian Rajya Sabha and general secretary of Communist Party of India-CPI (M), hoped on Friday that the existing relations between Bangladesh and India will be further strengthened in future through the passage of the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA), reports BSS.

The CPI (M) leader expressed the hope during a meeting with the central leaders of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) at its central office at Mukti Bhaban in the city.

The meeting was held as part of separate bilateral meetings between the central leaders of the CPB and the visiting communist leaders of the SAARC countries in Dhaka.

Yechury said the dreadful emergence of armed religious fundamentalism is a matter of concern for the peace-loving peoples of both India and Bangladesh.

In this connection, the Indian Upper House leader put emphasis on waging movement for protecting the interests of the people of the two countries.

Yechury said the people of Bangladesh and India have today become victims of imperialism and capitalism.He put emphasis on forming left democratic alternative force against the politics of imperialism and capitalism. "Left democratic alternative force is the biggest savior of secularism," added Yechury.
