BD to continue leading role in promoting regional integration : Biswal

US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Desai Biswal has emphasised that situated at the crossroad of the South and South-East Asia, Bangladesh would continue its leading role in promoting regional integration, reports UNB.  Biswal stated this when Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque met her on the sideline of the Bangladesh-US Partnership dialogue held in Washington on October 28-29, according to a foreign ministry media release in Dhaka on Thursday.

The foreign secretary briefed the US Assistant Secretary about priorities of the present Bangladesh government in areas such as governance, law and order, counter-terrorism, economic stability, and labour rights.

They discussed regional integration and various regional and sub-regional arrangements, including SAARC, BCIM and BIMSTEC.
