Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reiterated Wednesday in Parliament that Bangladesh will never allow its land to be used for carrying out any acts of terrorism in any neighbouring country, report agencies.
"We are determined to ensure that no terror activities are conducted in any neighbouring country using the land of Bangladesh," she said in reply to a scripted question of Shamsul Haq Chowdhury (Chittagong-11).
Hasina said that the present government does not support any acts of militancy or terrorism. She said no major militant or terror attack could be conducted in the last two years due to various measures taken by the present government.
"As a result, various festivals like Eid, Puja, Christmas and other important national days were celebrated in safe and secured environment."
The Leader of the House mentioned that a regional conference to chalk out an action plan against terrorism was arranged by the Anti-Terrorism Department of the United Nations in Dhaka in November, 2009.
"We are hopeful to completely root out terrorism and militancy from the country," she said.
A working committee of the Home Ministry is working to make the existing Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Act of 2009 as more time-befitting, Hasina told the House.
She said that some militant organisations have been banned in the country while the activities of some other organisations are being monitored by the intelligence agencies.
