KUSHTIA, July 4 (UNB): Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) held a sector-level meeting at Mirpur in the district Wednesday, discussing various prickly border issues.
During the meeting, BDR raised a number of issues, including 'unprovoked' BSF firing along the border, killing of innocent Bangladeshi farmers, infiltration of Indian citizens into Bangladesh, drug smuggling and abduction of innocent Bangladeshis.
Sources said the meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere with both sides hoping to resolve the existing border problems.
BDR Kushtia Sector Commander NM Noor Islam and BSF Krishna Nagar Sector Commander C Marandi led their respective sides in the three-hour meeting.
