Blogger Wasikur murder verdict Oct 27

A Dhaka court has set October 27 to pronounce judgment in a case lodged over the murder of blogger Wasikur Rahman Babu in 2015, reports BSS.

Robiul Islam, judge of Dhaka 3rd Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court set the date as both the prosecution and defence concluded their closing arguments on Sunday.

A total of 24 witnesses out of 40 testified in the case.

Earlier on September 10, the defence placed the statement in self-defence. Three accused Zikrullah, Ariful Islam and Saiful Islam, who were present at the court on that day, pleaded not guilty.

Wasikur was murdered on his way to office from his Tejgaon Begunbari house on March 30, 2015.

Police with the help of locals managed to detain two killers -- Zikrullah and Ariful Islam from the spot. Three machetes were recovered from their possession at that time.
