The ruling Awami League-backed Blue Panel has swept the Dhaka University Teachers' Association (DUTA) polls, bagging all the 15 posts of the executive committee.
The BNP-Jamaat-backed White Panel failed to win even a single post of the committee. Prof Dr Shafi Uz Zaman conducted the polls and announced the election results Wednesday.
Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed of Economics Department and Prof ASM Maksud Kamal of Disaster Science and Management Department have been elected president and general secretary of the DUTA respectively.
Out of 1,902 voters, some 1,365 teachers of the university exercised their voting rights.
Other office-bearers elected are:
Prof Dr Hasibur Rashid of Management Information Systems Department (vice-president), Prof Dr Aftab Ali Sheikh of Chemistry Department (joint secretary) and Prof Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam of the Banking and Insurance Department (finance secretary).
