BNP again alleges govt hand in Sirajganj incident

October 16, 2010 00:00:00

Main opposition party BNP have again alleged that the ruling party had designed the death of five of their activists in the train accident, at Sirajganj on Oct 11, reports bdnews24.com
"The prime minister’s and the communications minister's invocations had led to people being killed. They will not be able to escape this responsibility," the party's standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said.
Khan pointed out that despite the government's apparent citizen-friendly façade, it was actually keener on wealth and emphasised his observation by pointing out that the government had formed committees to investigate the burning of the 11 bogies, but "no bodies were formed to investigate the deaths nor were any initiatives taken to give proper treatment to the injured."
The senior BNP leader was talking to journalists after placing wreaths at the grave of the party's founder, late Ziaur Rahman, at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, with the newly elected committee of Narayanganj Garments Sramik Dal on Friday.
Khan refuted government allegations of the rally being held without proper government permission and pointed out the presence of law enforcers on site indicated that the district administration and railway authorities were informed beforehand.
