The government has handed over three very important sectors to India jeopardising the country`s independence and sovereignty, reports UNB. The Awami League`s popularity is at lowest ebb because of its failures and misdeeds and people no longer want it in power. But it is clinging on to power to plunder national wealth and destroy the country. The allegations were made by BNP at a protest rally held in front of party office at KD Ghosh Road in Khulna city Saturday. The rally was organised as part of BNP`s central programme to protest `abnormal` raise in power tariff. Chaired by city BNP president Nazrul Islam Manju, MP, it was addressed, among others, by M Nurul Islam Dadu Bhai, Moniruzzaman Moni, Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona, Saharuzzaman Murtoza, Kazi Sekander Ali DalimSyeda Nargis Ali and SS Morshed Alam. They said `abnormal` power tariff rise has added to the miseries of people who were already suffering because of reckless rise in prices of food and other essential items Terming the ruling Awami League subservient of a neighbouring country, they said it has given port, power and telecommunications sectors to different Indian companies putting existane of the country at great risk. Not a single electoral plegde was fulfilled by the present govt in its two years` rule and it wants to cling on to power to loot people`s money and serve interest of its friends abroad, they alleged. Terming the grand alliance government anti-people the BNP leaders said it was awarding contract to set up rental power plants without tenders to partisan people and making laws in parliament to justify its misdeeds.
