RAJSHAHI, Jan 26 (UNB): BNP called a 24-hour hartal in eight districts of Rajshahi division for today (Wednesday) protesting filing of case against its chairperson Khaleda Zia and demanding release of their detained party leaders and activists.
Harun-or-Rashid, organising secretary of Rajshahi division unit BNP, announced the hartal through a press release Monday.
The shutdown will remain in force from 6:00 am Wednesday to 6:00 am Thursday.
On Saturday, a case was filed against 50 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, including Khaleda Zia, in connection with Friday's arson attack on a bus at Jatrabari that left at least 30 people burnt.
