A day after its chairperson issued a countrywide 'organisational red alert', BNP gave on Friday the 19-party leaders and activists a 10-point advice like not moving alone and going to any unsafe and desolate place to avoid any untoward incident of secret killing and abduction, reports UNB.
BNP acting secretary general Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came up with the advice at a press conference at the party chief's Gulshan office.
"Apart from politicians, people from all walks of life are being killed, abducted and made disappeared regularly. All are now scared. No one is safe anywhere. Bangladesh now has become a death valley and a land of uncertainty and fear," he said.
When people are worried and appalled over their security, Fakhrul alleged, the government is mocking with them claiming that the law and order situation is normal in the country.
He said the very responsible persons of the government are making reckless remarks involving BNP in connection with the current spate of secret killing, abduction. "I call upon them not to resort to such cruel mockery and political ploy over the security of the country's people and their lives."
Fakhrul said the law enforcers cannot contain the dangerous menace of secret killing and abduction as the government made them indiscipline, incapable and week forces by using them to suppress the opposition and thus make political gains.
Mentioning that people have now no guarantee of a normal death, the BNP spokesman said even the family members of those being abducted do not know whether they will get the dead bodies of their dear ones for burial.
Earlier Thursday, announcing that she herself will take to the streets together with people, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia issued an 'organisational red alert' across the country to put up a resistance against killing, abduction and forced disappearance.
Fakhrul's 10-point advice include conducting awareness campaign through leaflets, posters and discussions to alert people about abduction, killing and forced disappearance, and to put up a mass resistance against such crimes, reaming alert during movement, keeping mutual contact with party men and central leaders, keeping the phone numbers of journalists and law enforcers, gathering together after hearing any news of abduction, capturing fake law enforcer, looking after each other's safety and people's safety and standing besides the victims.
The 10-point advice is basically an outline to implement Khaleda Zia's organisational red alert programme.
The BNP leader also sought cooperation from the countrymen in creating a strong resistance against the ongoing secret killings, forced disappearances and abductions.
