MADARIPUR, Dec 25 (BSS): An Awami League (AL) senior leader blasted on Monday BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for her comments that the country is being run in 'Pakistan- style'.
He also said the AL never does politics by maintaining relations with Pakistanis.
"Awami League never does politics by keeping relations with the Pakistanis. Rather it is BNP-Jamaat that does politics maintaining good ties with the Pakistanis," he said.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan made the comments while talking to reporters after distributing sewing machines and agri inputs among the distressed at Amgram Union in Rajoir upazila of the district.
Khaleda Zia in a discussion in the capital on Sunday alleged the country is being run in 'Pakistan- style'.
Pointing out the BNP's link with the militants, Shajahan Khan said the BNP wanted to turn Bangladesh into a militant state when it was in state power.
The minister mentioned that when the AL government is making strides to resist militants in the country, at that time the BNP leaders are shedding crocodile's tears for the militants, saying that why the militants are being killed.
"It proves that the BNP leaders including Khaleda Zia want to keep the militants alive," he said.
Shajahan Khan said the BNP-Jamaat had created 'Bangla Bhai' and the nexus harboured all terrorist acts with him.
On the other hand, he said, the AL pursues politics to resist this militant and root out militancy from the country.
"There is no militant attack in Bangladesh like Pakistan," the shipping minister said urging the BNP chairperson to make any comments after looking her own face in the mirror.
Amgram Union Parishad Chairman Zahidul Islam Tipu presided over the meeting, while Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Md Azahrul Islam, Additional Police Super (circle) Suman Kumar Dev, Rajoir Upazila Chairman Shahjahan Khan and Jatiya Mohila Sangstha, Madaripur chapter Chairman Pallabi Yasmin were present, among others.
