BNP has urged the people to resist the government for stripping them of their fundamental rights, reports bdnews24.com.
Secretary General of the party Khandaker Delwar Hossain slammed the Awami League (AL) government for deceiving the people by declaring 'false election pledges'.
Delwar was addressing a rally Saturday at the city's Muktangan protesting the government's oppression on the BNP activists, eviction of its party chief Khaleda Zia from her Cantonment house and political harassment against its labour wing Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal president Nazrul Islam Khan in connection with the Sirajganj train accident.
Delwar claimed that the present government could not protect the interest of workers as labourers were being dismissed from their workplaces.
"No matter where you go, starting from industries to banks and insurance companies, you will find only AL activists. There is no other way but to take to the streets."
The BNP leader, obliquely addressing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said, "Work for the people's welfare. If you have thought that you can keep the country under control abusing the judiciary, administration, armed forces, RAB and the police, you would be wrong."
