US Ambassador James Moriarty, Prof Robert Bogga of NESA, Khaleda's Advisers Dr Osman Faruk, Reaz Rahman and Sabih Uddin Ahmad were present during more than an hour-long meeting in the afternoon. NESA is the preeminent US government institution for building relationships and understanding in the NESA region. The Centre fosters open communication and educational opportunities for military and civilian representatives from the NESA region and other participating countries. After the meeting Dr Osman Faruk told reporters that the meeting focused on various prevailing issues including terrorism and women development. Khaleda Zia told Ambassador Larocco that the BNP government had initiated the anti-terrorism move, which was appreciated by him. On issues of women development, the BNP chief said one should not do anything that might hurt the religious sentiment of the people and create chaos. It needs time and it would not be wise to do something by applying force.
