BNP has no entente with Jamaat, Khaleda claims

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia said Monday night her party will announce tougher action programmes this month alongside celebrating the nation's victory to ensure a fair inclusive election by ousting the current 'illegal government', reports UNB.

The BNP chief came up with the announcement at her Gulshan office while inaugurating a month-long programme of Jatiyatabadi Muktijuddha Dal, a body of pro-BNP freedom fighters, taken marking the Victory Month of December.

Referring to January-5 election, Khaleda said people did not vote in the lopsided polls as 154 MPs were elected without any vote.

Khaleda hoped that people will respond to her call for a decisive movement as they did it during the January-5 election by boycotting the polls as per her appeal.

The BNP chief also claimed that her party is pro-liberation one as its alliance with Jamaat is only for election and movement.

"Awami League is not a pro-liberation party. They used to criticise us for our alliance with Jamaat though they had joined polls in 1986 with it and waged a movement with the Islamist party for caretaker government in 1995. I want to clearly state that we have no entente with Jamaat. We've an alliance with the party only for movement and election," she added.
