Awami League (AL) presidium member, spokesman of the 14-party alliance and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said Thursday that leaders of BNP-Jamaat combine have been encouraging militancy through their remarks, reports BSS.
"In the past, BNP sheltered and patronised militancy and Jamaat. For this reason, a militant clique has dared to hatch conspiracy from the foreign soil to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he said.
Mohammad Nasim said this at a press conference emerging from a meeting of AL-led 14-party alliance at the political office of party president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the city.
The meeting was convened to determine the responsibilities of the 14-party alliance to face the conspiracy of the BNP-Jamaat combine.
Chaired by Samyabadi Dal general secretary Dilip Barua, the meeting was also attended, among others, by Awami League (AL) joint general secretary Dr Dipu Moni and office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) convener Rezaur Rashid Khan, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) general secretary Sharif Nurul Ambia, National Awami Party (NAP) general secretary Advocate Enamul Huq, Ganatantri Party general secretary Nurur Rahman Selim, Workers Party politburo member Quamrul Ahsan, Tariquat Federation chairman Nazibul Bashar Maizbhandari, AL central working committee members Sujit Roy Nandi and SM Kamal Hossain.
