BNP, Jamaat pushing country towards conflict: Shajahan

MADARIPUR, Dec 27 (BSS): Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chief Khaleda Zia and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami are pushing the country towards conflict.
About the scheduled Gazipur rally, the Shipping Minister said, "The BNP had a plan to create anarchy in the country in name of their public rally at Gazipur Saturday."
The Shipping Minister said this while talking to journalists after the triennial conference of Bangladesh Teachers' Association (BTA) at Madaripur Public Institution here this morning.
Criticising the derogatory remarks on Bangabandhu by BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman, now in London, the minister said such remarks by Tarique about Father of the Nation are totally contrary to norms and values of democracy.
The minister said citizenship of this type of people should be cancelled for insulting the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Local leaders including Madaripur Municipality Mayor Khalid Hossain Yaad, Madaripur district unit president of BTA Nawabjan and head master of Public Institution Humayun Kabir, among others, participated in the function.
