Awami League (AL) presidium member and spokesman of the 14-party alliance Mohammad Nasim said Friday that BNP-Jamaat combine would not be allowed to torch property on the streets in the name of movement, reports BSS.
"Begum Zia will not be allowed for a moment even to go for any killing in the country. BNP will not be given any scope to create anarchy and vandalism along with Rajakars and the Jamaat. The 14-party alliance will be on the streets from January," he said.
Mohammad Nasim, also Health and Family Welfare Minister, said this while speaking as the chief guest at the national conference of Ganatantri Party at Mohanagar Natyamancha at Gulistan Square in the city.
Ganatantri Party presidium member Barrister Arash Ali chaired the conference. It was also addressed, among others, by Workers' Party president Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Samyabadi Dal general secretary Dilip Barua, Bangladesh Peace Council chairman Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) convener Rezaur Rashid Khan, National Awami Party (NAP) central leader Ismail Hossain and Ganatantri Party general secretary Nurur Rahman Selim.
Pointing at BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, Mohammad Nasim said, "Don't utter words like an autocrat and don't sound any threat. Whom do you want to scare? Those who are in the 14-party alliance are freedom fighters (FFs). There will not be any benefit in scaring us. People of the country witnessed your anarchy three months before the national polls. You will not be allowed for a moment even to take to the streets. Leaders and workers of the 14-party alliance are prepared and they will not let BNP-Jamaat-Rajakars to take to streets from Teknaf to Tentulia."
The senior AL leader said, "Polls will surely be held in the country. But, the polls will not be held a day before the year 2019. You (Begum Zia) have committed a mistake by not taking part in the last national polls. Now you have to wait and seek apology to the people. If people pardon you then you can participate in the next polls."
He said, "There would have been martial law in the country had the January 5 national polls not been held. Risking her life Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with the 14-party alliance took part in the polls. On the contrary, Khaleda Zia along with Rajakars had pursued ill-politics at the instigation of foreigners and killed people by torching them."
Drawing attention of the leaders-workers of the 14-party alliance, Mohammad Nasim said, "From now on we have to get prepared in every nook and corner of the country to resist together the conspiracies of BNP-Jamaat combine."
Speaking at the conference, JSD president and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said, "Democracy is not imprisoned in Bangladesh. Rather, the war crimes-militancy-Rajakars are imprisoned. Begum Zia has not been raising hue and cry for democracy. She has been crying for militant outfits."
Meanwhil, Awami League (AL) Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hassan Mahmud called upon BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman Friday to apologise to the nation for their adverse comments.
"Khaleda Zia has talked in tune of her son Tarique Rahman. The BNP chairperson would have to seek apology to the people for this," he said this while addressing a press conference at AL president's Dhanmondi office in the city.
The press conference was held in response to, what it said, the 'false' statements made by Khaleda Zia at a convention in the city Thursday.
