BNP leader Dastagir Chy laid to rest

CHITTAGONG, Apr 18 (BSS): BNP leader and renowned sports organizer Dastagir Chowdhury was laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard in city's Choytonnyogoli with state honour this evening. Earlier, the first Namaz-e-Janaza of the deceased was held in front of BNP central office in the capital Sunday afternoon. Leaders from different political parties, professionals, organizations and trade bodies including City Mayor M Monzur Alam, former ministers Abdullah Al Noman, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, former city mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Jafrul Islam Chowdhury, MP, Shamsul Islam, MP, Golam Akbar Khondhoker, city Awami League General Secretary Kazi Enamul Hoque Danu, city BNP General Secretary Dr Shahdat Hossain, among others, participated in his second Namaz-e-Janaza held at Jamiatul Falah National Mosque premises after Asr prayers. He took part in the liberation war as a freedom fighter and was a former activist of the then Biplobi Chhatra Union.
