BNP leader Hafiz sent to jail in sabotage case

A Dhaka court on Tuesday sent BNP vice-chairman Maj (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed to jail in case filed with Gulshan Police Station over obstructing police in perfoing duty and vandalism, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order when the BNP leader surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case.
On December 28 last year, a court sentenced BNP leader Hafiz and Altaf Hossain Chowdhury to 21-month jail in the case.
Altaf was released from jail after securing bail but BNP leader Hafiz failed to appear in court as he was abroad due to medical treatment.
Former BNP leader Major (Retd) Md Hanif was also sentenced to jail in the case.
