BNP leaders Khasru, Aman, others arrested

The law-enforcement agencies arrested several BNP leaders, including its standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, from different parts of the capital on Saturday night and Sunday, reports UNB.
Detective Branch (DB) police arrested Khasru from his Banani residence at 10:00 pm on Saturday, said BNP chairperson's media wing member Shamsuddin Didar.
A joint team of RAB, police and BGB arrested BNP Dhaka metropolitan north unit former president Amanullah Aman from his Mohakhali residence on Sunday afternoon, he said.
A team of DB police also arrested BNP international affairs secretary Nasiruddin Awsim from the capitals's Shahbag area on Sunday afternoon.
Besides, police also arrested former Jubo Dal president and BNP publicity secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, BNP Dhaka division unit organising secretary Sayeed Ahmed Babul and Dhaka Metropolitan north member secretary Aminul Haq from their respective residences last night.
Moreover, an unspecified number of activities of BNP and its subordinate bodies were arrested from different parts of the capital, he said.
Speaking at a press conference at the BNP chairperson's Gulshan office, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir strongly condemned the arrest of the opposition leaders and workers and also demanded their immediate release.
He also alleged that the government is making evil efforts to put the blame onto BNP for the violent incidents using the media.
On Friday, police arrested BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and executive committee member and Dhaka District unit member secretary Nipun Roy Chowdhry in connection with street violence.
