The High Court on Tuesday granted an anticipatory bail for three weeks to BNP leader Abdul Awal Mintoo in a case filed over Bakshibazar violence, reports UNB.
The court also granted an interim bail for two weeks to Gazipur district BNP President Fazlul Haque Milon in connection with a case filed over violence during the BNP-led 20-party alliance's hartal in Gazipur on Saturday.
A vacation HC bench comprising Justice Mohammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Mohammad Badruzzaman passed the order following separate bail petitions filed by their lawyers.
Meanwhile, the same bench returned the bail petition of another BNP leader Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin in a case filed in Brahmanbaria for calling Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a 'great Razakar'. The court, however, asked his lawyers to file their bail petition with the regular HC bench on January 5 for hearing after reopens. President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Khandker Mahbub Hossain stood for Nasir Uddin while Advocate Jainul Abedin argued for Mintoo.
