BNP leaders Nazrul, Rizvi placed on one-day remand

A Dhaka court on Saturday placed BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and its Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on a one-day remand in a violence case filed with Paltan Police Station, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mosharraf Hossain passed the order when police produced them before the court with a two-day remand prayer.
The court also rejected a bail petition filed by Rizvi's layer Zainul Abedin Mesbah in the case.
Earlier on Friday night, a team of team of Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested Nazrul Islam Khan from his Banani DOHS residence, said BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
The DB police arrested Ruhul Kabir Rizvi from in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Friday.
Meanwhile, another team of DB police arrested BNP executive committee member Nipun Roy Chowdhury from her residence in the capital's Rayerbazar area around 3pm on Saturday, said her father and BNP vice chairman Netai Roy Chowdhury.
Netai said his daughter who underwent a surgery a few days back is still sick. "She was supposed to go to a doctor today (Saturday). But police picked her up even in such a condition."
DB sources said Nipun was arrested for instigating street violence.
Early Wednesday, the BD police raided the BNP office and reportedly recovered huge crude bombs and sticks from there.
