Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) must seek public apology for their misdemeanour with Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) chief Badruddoza Chowdhury and other leaders of the party before they could think of holding any rapprochement talks.
LDP leaders said this while talking to journalists at Baridhara KC Memorial office in the city Sunday, reports UNB.
LDP Secretary General MA Mannan said two factions of BNP now could realise that Badruddoza Chowdhury was the saving grace to protect BNP in the changed situation.
"But he (B Chowdhury) did not leave the party (BNP) under any conspiracy. He does not believe in conspiracy, he believes in transparency", Mannan said.
In the last four years of BNP-led alliance rule, he observed, many of BNP and the four-party alliance had insinuation to abuse them and the Bikalpadhara politics.
"Mannan Bhuiyan and Hannan Shah are now looking to B Chowdhury for protecting them and saving BNP", he said.
However, Mannan said, "We thank Almighty Allah that though late, Mannan Bhuiyan and Hannan Shah have realised B Chowdhury as the protector of BNP."
Setting an apparent condition for reconciliation, Mannan said, "We will not join others, but if all nationalist forces get united, barring thieves, the corrupt and terrorists, B Chowdhury may give them leadership in his own process."
LDP Organising Secretary Mahi B Chowdhury said an environment must be created for any dialogue and this environment might be created through seeking public apology for the misdemeanour and wrongs they had committed with Bikalpadhara leadership.
