Though no effective move is in sight to recast the party as per its chief's announcement following its failure in movement, senior BNP leaders claim they are silently preparing to carry out a 'magical overhaul' of the party and its different units after Eid-ul-Fitr to stage a political comeback, reports UNB.
Party leaders said their chairperson Khaleda Zia is still collecting information about the party leaders and activists who were very active on the streets during the past movement and capable of leading the party better.
"A list of the party's dedicated and potential leaders is being prepared. Those were inactive, controversial and found to be opportunists will be dropped from the posts of the party and its associate bodies," a BNP leader close to Khaleda told the news agency wishing anonymity.
He said youths and dynamic leaders having clean image will be inducted in different committees to strengthen the party's organisational capacity.
"The overhaul process is set to start just after Eid. Khaleda Zia is going to reshuffle the party to give it a strong footing to return to politics with a greater positive image," he added.
A BNP standing committee member preferring anonymity said, "Broad hints are there that a massive reshuffle is in the offing at all levels of the party after Eid. The party's policymaking body will also be reorganised with a good number of new faces."
He said new committees of BNP's important associate bodies Jubo Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal are likely to be announced after the Eid.  Later, the Dhaka City unit BNP and some district committees will be reorganised.
The BNP policymaker said the party is likely to hold its council at the year-end to form a strong executive committee in a democratic way. Khaleda Zia at recent different views-exchange meetings with lawyers of different districts reiterated that she will reshuffle her party and its all associate bodies with dedicated, time-tested and potential leaders to make it dynamic in real sense.
