Stating that those had tried to cling to powder in the past against people's will were thrown into dustbin, BNP senior leader MK Anwar demanded Saturday the government hold an inclusive national election without delay, reports UNB.

"Though they (ruling party) had said the January-5 election was mere a constitutional obligation, now they've started saying they'll be there in office for a full five-year term, but the government won't be able to do so against people's will," he said.

The BNP leader was addressing a discussion arranged by former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Foundation Central Committee at the Jatiya Press Club.

Terming 'very high time' for the government, Anwar, also a former minister, said the government will not be able to complete its full five-year tenure as people want it to go right now.

Referring to Bangladesh's political history, the BNP leader said those had tried to cling to power against the will of people were dumped into the dustbin.

He was also very critical of fake freedom fighter certificate holders in the bureaucracy and said the government did not take any step against them as it took gratuitous advantage from such fake freedom fighter bureaucrats.

The government has destroyed the administration as a whole, he alleged, adding that all other institutions have also been spoiled by appointing partisan people having no required efficiency.

He also criticised the government for withdrawing 7,000 cases filed against Awami League leaders and workers, including 15 against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, considering those cases as politically motivated ones, but retained the cases against BNP and its workers.

Chaired by former convener of JCD Foundation Mohammad Ali Akbar, the discussion was addressed, among others, by BNP chairperson's adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu.
