The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will hold a rally today (Friday) in front of the party's Naya Paltan office in the capital.
According to party sources, the party has received police permission to hold the event.
The rally will be held to realise the party's demands, which include allowing BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to travel abroad for treatment, withdrawing cases filed against acting chairman Tarique Rahman, and the immediate release of detained party leaders, including senior joint convener of Dhaka South BNP, Nabi Ullah Nabi.
Dhaka South BNP will organise the rally.
Earlier, BNP leaders met on Thursday with the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner to obtain permission for the party's announced rally.
