BNP ready for dialogue with illegal govt for fresh polls

June 18, 2014 00:00:00

Criticising the ruling party leaders for seeking the government’s legitimacy from BNP for holding dialogue with it, BNP spokesman Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday said they are willing to engage in talks with the illegal regime for an early national election through an understanding. “The ruling party leaders are saying to give the government legitimacy for talks. Their legitimacy seeking has proved that the government is illegal. But we we’re willing to sit with this illegitimate administration to resolve the ongoing political crisis in the interest of the country and democracy,” he said. Fakhrul, the BNP acting secretary general, was addressing a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club arranged by National People’s Party (NPP) protesting the continued killings, enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, according to a news agency.
