BNP reiterates demand to arrest collaborators of Awami League regime


Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) reiterated on Wednesday its demand to the interim government to arrest the collaborators of the fascist Sheikh Hasina government who still remain at different government organisations.
It also asked the collaborators to resign without delay and leave the organisations to avoid public wrath.
BNP standing committee member and also head of the party's relief and rehabilitation committee for flood-affected people Dr AZM Zahid Hossain made the demand at a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan headquarters in the capital.
"Collaborators of the fascist Awami League government still remain at different government entities including Bangladesh Public Service Commission, Anti-Corruption Commission and others. We call upon the interim government to arrest those collaborators. Otherwise they (collaborators) wouldn't escape public wrath," he said.
He said that the collaborators of the ousted Sheikh Hasina government were still hatching conspiracy to destabilise the country to 'fish in troubled waters'.
He alleged that unrest in the country's garment sector and in the hill tracts were the part of the conspiracies being hatched by the collaborators.
Regarding flash flood in Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari districts, he said that BNP has constituted committees in those districts to stand beside the flood-affected people.
He said the committees are set to start rescue and relief (dry foods) operations for the flood-affected people soon.
He added that BNP teams were also prepared to respond in the event of floods in Bagura and Sirajganj districts.
Dr AZM Zahid Hossain further said that after rescue and relief operations, BNP teams started working to rehabilitate the flood-affected people in Feni, Noakhali, Laximpur and Habiganj districts.
He said that they (BNP) started sending first consignment of 10,000 educational materials for schoolchildren of Fulgazi upazila in Feni districts.
He said that of the total martyrs of the July-August student-mass movement against Sheikh Hasina, 150 hailed from Feni, Noakhali, Laximpur, Habiganj and Cumilla districts.
He said that over 200 persons of those districts also sustained severe injuries during the anti-Sheikh Hasina movement 2024.
He said that BNP will provide assistance to the martyrs and injured on Sunday (6th October) of those districts.
He said that BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will hand over assistance to the family members of the martyrs and the injured persons.
About BNP's relief and rehabilitation activities, Mr AZM Zahid Hossain said that they have collected over Tk200 million (Tk 20 crore) as donations from the people of all walks of life.
He said that apart from cash collection, the BNP has also dispatched 41 trucks of food items like rice, lentil, sugar, salt and tea worth around Tk 50 million (Tk five crore) to the flood-affected areas of Feni, Noakhali, Laximpur, Habiganj and Cumilla districts.
He said that BNP is cooperating with the interim government.
He called upon the interim government to hold national election as early as possible.
"BNP is a party working for the welfare of the country's people. BNP is a party of pro-liberation. BNP is a party to uphold democracy," he said.
He said that BNP founder and also former president Ziaur Rahman had not only proclaimed the country's independence but also participated in the War of Liberation with brave and courage.
He also said that Shaheed President Zia had also rebuilt Bangladesh and restored multi-party democracy in the country.
BNP joint secretaries general Shahid Uddin Chowdhury and Advocate Abdus Salam and party chairperson's Adviser Abdus Salam were present, among others.
