BNP Wednesday alleged that the ruling collation is conspiring to share posts in the upazila polls among themselves in a bid to keep the BNP-backed contestants out of the race as they did in the national election, reports UNB.
"The BNP-supported candidates are being arrested in false cases filed against them every day in different parts of the country over the upazila polls. They (govt) are doing this as part of their plot to share posts in the elections among their alliance partners through intimidating BNP-backed runners," said BNP spokesman Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
He made the allegation at a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office.
Rizvi also alleged that the government is going ahead with various evil plans to ensure the victory of the candidates of JSD, Jatiya Party and the ruling party in the polls.
Making a pointed reference to harassment of BNP-supported candidates, he said the law enforcers Tuesday arrested Abu Sayeed, a Charghata Upazila incumbent chairman and BNP-backed contender, in the upazila election.
